Edgefield Baptist Church       family....friends....community          Home

Greetings...Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. One thing I want you to know is that I love being the pastor of this church!  I hope what you read on this site gives you a sense of what our church is about.  We are imperfect people who gather to worship a perfect God.  We want to share with everyone we can the truth of God's love for us, and the hope we have in Jesus Christ.  "Family, Friends, Community" describes our church atmosphere and we would be honored to have you join us anytime we gather...the times are listed on this site.  If you would like to know more about Edgefield or ask a question about a relationship with Christ, please give us a call or e-mail me at ebcpastorsteve@bellsouth.net.  I am honored you read this - I hope to see you soon!

- Steve Saunders, senior pastor

This Month's Thought...

March is a big month for me and my family.  Brenda and I celebrate our wedding anniversary on the 8th and our oldest son, Steve, has his birthday on the 20th. He will be 4 this year and is ready for his party.

Another celebration for us is that in March of 2008 Edgefield called me as Senior Pastor.  It was such an exciting time for me because I had never been a pastor before and I was feeling God call me to that step in my life.  The way you embraced us then and have continued to love us has been truly a blessing.

The apostle Paul often wrote thank you notes in his letters. For example, Ephesians 1:16 says “I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” and Philippians 1:3 says “I thank my God every time I remember you.” When the Saunders think of Edgefield, we are thankful on many levels.

One of these is willingness.  Our church is filled with people who are willing to lead, follow, do, not do, sing, play, and the list goes on from here.  I encourage us to not overlook this about our community of faith, it is somewhat unique.  For instance, there are lots of big churches begging, yes begging, people to help the work of their church in areas that we have covered week in and out – this is due to our people.  Thank you.

Another aspect of willingness is to try different and new things.  Our winter move downstairs took a measure of willingness from most of us at Edgefield. It was the right thing to do and God has blessed it.  Without a predominant spirit of willingness this entire experience could have been derailed.  Again, thank you.

As we go forward and consider what God would have us do as followers of Christ and as a church, let’s commit to be in this spirit of willingness. God calls us to unity in Ephesians 4 and willingness is a big part of that unity.

Thanks for having me serve as your pastor. Thank you for loving my family. You are a wonderful family of faith.

Onward!

- Pastor Steve
