Community Events... Edgefield is an active participant in our East Nashville community, and we play a role in a variety of community activities and events each year that help make our community a better place to live. Events such as the Historic Edgefield Tour of Homes, the Neighborhood Night Out Against Crime, the NBA Christmas Toy Store, and the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. Edgefield also sponsors a community Easter Egg Hunt each spring for children in the church and community. We have provided sponsorships, equipment, volunteers, giveaways, music, etc. for a variety of events. If Edgefield could play a meaningful role in your next community event, please contact the church office.
Facility Usage... Our church facility (sanctuary, fellowship hall, classrooms, grounds) is available for use by community groups and organizations if scheduling arrangements can be made. Contact the church office for additional details. To download a copy of the Building Usage Guidelines & Information Guide, click here.
Library/Archives & Media Center... The Edgefield Library/Archives & Media Center contains media with a range of topics essentially limited to some significance for the Christian faith including aspects of church life. Most of the media is in the form of books, although we have a modest collection of DVD's, VHS tapes, and CD's. All of the media can be checked-out of the library, with the exception of materials on the shelves designated as Church Archival Material. We ask that church archive materials remain in the library, although it can be photocopied if you wish to use the material elsewhere. The library's collection is divided into different categories of subject matter. Categories include: Christian Living, Marriage & Family, Devotional, Missions, Current Issues, Senior Adults, Baptist History & Doctrine, Biblical History, Theology, Bible Study Helps, The Church, Biography, History, Local Interest, Fiction, Music & Video, as well as sections for Youth and Children. The library is located just off the Russell Street lobby and is open for your convenience before, and after, all regular weekly activities.
Memorials... There are a number of memorial plaques all around the historic Edgefield facility marking significant places or significant gifts that were given in memory of, or in honor of, Edgefield members or pastors. Memorial gifts are welcome and for more information on how you can make a memorial gift, please contact the church office. Just some of the memorial plaques you can look for include... - Dr. William Lunsford (Russell St. Vestibule) given in 1993 by the SBC Annuity Board on 75th anniversary of founding - Dr. John O. Rust (Seventh St. Window) given in 1907 by friends of the former pastor - Rev. Daniel J. Martin (Russell St. Sign) given in 1989 EBC members - Dr. William H. Rejoice Ministries... Rejoice Ministries exist to provide inner city children from low income families an excellent dance education and to instill character training through the teaching of Christian values. Rejoice was established as a result of a volunteer dance program started at Exum Chapel for low income children living in East Nashville. Because of the need and interest, Rejoice opened its doors in 1999 with less than ten students. Today, Rejoice School of Ballet enrolls more than eighty children in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop. Children have the opportunity to perform throughout the year at recitals, nursing homes, special events, and churches. On top of valuable dance instruction, children learn to dream and to live as God has called them to live. Rejoice also offers a Summer Dance Program, offering ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop, as well as presentations by guest artists. Rejoice is based out of Edgefield Baptist Church, with offices and a fully equipped studio. Classes are also offered at other locations in the East Nashville area. Rejoice is made possible because of the grace of God, the prayers of God's people, and the generous gifts of so many volunteers and donors. To learn more about Rejoice, please contact executive director, Patricia Cross, at 210.1147.
Safety... To help insure the safest environment possible, all Edgefield ministry staff, all children’s ministry workers and helpers, and all youth/student ministry workers and helpers have undergone criminal background checks. In addition, all children and youth workers/helpers have agreed to, and signed, church approved worker/volunteer guidelines. These policies were established and implemented by the church in July 2007.
Tours... Tours of our beautiful, and historic, church building are available each year as a part of the annual Historic Edgefield Tour of Homes & Gardens. For more information on this event, click here. We will try to accommodate any special requests for tours as we can. Contact the church office for additional details.
Trust Fund... The church's trust fund was established to fund church-related causes and to be administered by the church’s trustees under the approval of the church. Gifts of memorials, honorariums, stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, life insurance, and real estate can be given to the trust fund. You can also remember the church in your will by designating specific bequests to the Trust Fund of Edgefield Baptist Church in your will or trust. Contact the church office for additional details.
Weddings at Edgefield... Edgefield's historic sanctuary, with its center aisle, its stunning stained-glass windows, and rounded seating for approximately three hundred guests makes a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. Wedding arrangements for church members, as well as non-church members, can be made by contacting the church office, and setting-up an appointment with the church’s wedding coordinator, or one of the other staff members. Click here to download a copy of the church's Wedding Guidelines & Policies.
