2008 marks 141 years of ministry for
Edgefield Baptist Church here in the historic Edgefield and East Nashville
community, as well as 101 years here at the same location on the corner of South
Seventh & Russell Streets. While
much has changed throughout those many years, our message and our purpose have
not...
...Our purpose is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in our world, and to build up the body of Christ in love, through worship, discipleship, fellowship & ministry.
We seek to be a place where all people can come and have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, a place where people can be discipled in the Word, a place where people can participate in meaningful and vibrant worship, and experience warm and loving fellowship.
We strive to support missions both locally and throughout the world. We regularly support local ministries such as the East Nashville Cooperative Ministry, the Nashville Rescue Mission, the Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes, and Rejoice Ministries, which is based out of our church facility. We sent a youth mission team to serve in Charleston, SC in 2007, and in 2008 we sent a mission team to Waveland, MS to assist in the continued rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Katrina. We also support the work of the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention, the North American Mission Board, and the International Mission Board.
Edgefield has always provided strong
ministries for children and youth, and that tradition continues today.
The JAM Kids Ministry and The Edge Youth & Student Ministry provides
wonderful opportunities in worship, Bible study, mission opportunities, and fun
activities that help to build a strong foundation of faith that will prepare
them for a lifetime of living for, and serving Christ.
Just as we have over these past 141 years, we plan to continue to be a lighthouse on this corner, in this community, and in our world. We look back warmly on the blessings of our rich history, but we are excited today about what God is doing in the life of our church and community.
We invite you to come experience and see what we are all about here at EBC. We gather for Worship each Sunday morning at 10 am, followed by Fellowship & Coffee at 11:00, and Bible Study at 11:15 am. Wednesday night activities for all ages get underway at 6 pm each week following fellowship supper which begins at 5:15 pm.
